Boxing Retailer Ringside Welcomes an Exciting New Line of Equipment and Apparel from Lonsdale

Lenexa, K.S. – June 16, 2009 – Ringside, one of the largest mail-order and web based suppliers of competitive boxing equipment in the world, formally announced today the addition of boxing equipment and apparel from Lonsdale, a leader in sports fashion and boxing equipment. Lonsdale celebrates its 100th year by entering the US market as a forerunner in boxing manufacturing. Lonsdale will commemorate this milestone with the launch of Lonsdaleusa.com.

“Lonsdale is one of the biggest, most popular boxing brands in Europe and has been for over a century. I’m both humbled and thrilled that they have joined the Ringside team. Lonsdale brings with it a highly sought after sense of elegance and sophistication that is refreshing, and together, we insure that all our customer’s needs are met.” - John Brown, Owner/CEO, Ringside, Inc.

Lonsdale will round-out Ringside’s selection of the most sought-after names in the business, cementing itself in the industry as "The Best in Boxing." Ringside will offer a wide range of professional boxing and training equipment from Lonsdale, including Lonsdale Professional Fight Gloves, Lonsdale Premier Bag Gloves, and Lonsdale Amateur Competition Headgear.

“The decision to team with Ringside was a natural fit. Like Lonsdale, Ringside shares the same passion for the brand’s heritage and 100 years of authenticity and produces only the highest quality equipment,” said Neil Morton, CEO of IBML-USA, the licensing agency responsible for the managing of the brand in the USA. “We are looking forward to working with Ringside in introducing Lonsdale to a larger US audience, and taking the brand to the next level.”

With well over a century of European history, pride and tradition, Lonsdale boxing equipment has made landfall in the United States. In 1891, the 5th Earl of Lonsdale, Hugh Lowther, organized the first boxing match using gloves, rather than bare fists. In 1909, Lord Lonsdale awarded the first championship belt to a British professional boxer, establishing a tradition that has become a trademark of the sport.

Lennox Louis, Ricky Hatton, Marvin Hagler and Sugar Ray Robinson are but a few of the superstars who have donned the Lonsdale logo, making the boxing brand new to America, but not to the proud pugilists, coaches and fans involved in this gentlemen’s sport.

Into each piece of Lonsdale equipment goes quality craftsmanship, premium materials and the latest in technological advances. Lonsdale’s rich history is undeniable, just like the gear emblazoned with its logo.

Lonsdale products are available through Lonsdaleusa.com immediately.
